Google Classroom
I like the ease of Google classroom and how it is connected to all of the other google apps. However, I tend to use microsoft more so learning how to use googles versions of those is a learning curve for me. I think that I could see myself using this app for upper grades more than the lower grades. In 4th and up, I believe GC is a great way for them to start being more responsible for their own work and keeping track of their assignments. I would actually have to see how the younger grades interact with GC before I use it, but I think for them it would be more for the parents than the students. I also love GC for days that students are absent or they are out for activities. They cant use the excuse that they didn't have their assignment becaude its right there in GC for them to access from anywhere.
You bring up a wonderful point about the appropriateness for younger students. Google Classroom does seem more equipped for upper elementary students. Finding assignments especially having to go to other platforms to finish assignments may be to confusing for younger students. Google Classroom does remove the excuses of not knowing what assignments are due especially since it send the reports to parents as well!
ReplyDeleteCasie, I totally agree. Growing up in school we learned all of the Microsoft applications such as, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.. I do agree that Google is more accessible and easier to use for upper level grades. I also agree that it allows the student to start becoming more independent with keeping up with their own assignment and work.
ReplyDeleteI have observed they taught the 2nd grader for the Google Classroom. It was nice to see how they know this tool and at least learn some basic functions from GC!
ReplyDeleteI can see your point, Google Classroom and all the ways the Google applications can be used with it is probably something upper grade would not only comprehend more, but enjoy more as well. I do like that for things like Google Docs and Slides you can save those creations as a Word or PowerPoint so that's at least nice!
